Hey there! I’m Val
Therapist & Founder of
West Pardo Mental Health Counseling
Here’s a bit about me and what guides my work:
I believe everyone deserves a space to let their guard down and safely explore their inner world. As a therapist, I aim to offer just that—a grounded, compassionate presence in moments of growth, uncertainty, and self-reflection.
I’m passionate about working with individuals navigating relational anxiety, family-of-origin trauma, and perfectionism. As a first-generation immigrant, I also understand the complexities of balancing multiple cultural identities and enjoy supporting those who want to navigate this in a way that feels true to them. I can provide therapy in Spanish for those who feel more comfortable expressing themselves in their native language.
In addition to working with individuals, I use Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help couples manage conflict, deepen their friendship, and strengthen intimacy.
Outside of work, I find joy in planning my next getaway, reading a good book, or enjoying my favorite form of movement—dance.
If you have any questions or want to hear more about what working together would be like, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to explore whether we would be a good fit.
I look forward to hearing from you!
I approach therapy with the belief that everything is relational: our relationship with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. This belief informs not only the work I do with every client but also how I show up in the therapy room.
My therapeutic style is compassionate, authentic, and direct. I aim for therapy to be a collaborative process - where insight, emotional safety, and gentle challenge can lead to meaningful change. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship above all else - creating trust and a sense of safety that allows my clients to be their most genuine selves.
I work from a relational and trauma-informed lens, always considering how early experiences shape the way we show up in the present. In our work together, you can expect a thoughtful balance of exploring the past and making sense of the present. I’m not a “just sit and nod” therapist. I’ll offer reflections, ask meaningful questions, and collaborate with you on what feels most helpful. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down, be curious about what’s coming up, and begin to make sense of your inner world.
About My Approach
Are you ready to make a change?
Maybe you’ve been holding it all together for a long time. Maybe something feels off, even if you can’t quite name it. Change doesn’t always look like a big breakthrough. Sometimes, it’s just a quiet decision to try something different. To feel differently. To stop carrying so much alone.
Therapy offers a space to untangle the noise, reconnect with yourself, and move forward with more clarity and ease. The best part? You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin.
